Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access Course
This course is aimed at doctors and other healthcare practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge and skills related to vascular access. Courses run three times a year on a Wednesday afternoon from 1300 to 1700.
Recently we have invested in some new ultrasound phantoms to aid teaching of peripheral and central vascular access.
There are four stations lasting 45 minutes each where you will cover:
Sono-anatomy of the upper limb and neck.
Peripheral venous cannulation with ultrasound.
Arterial cannulation with ultrasound.
Central venous cannulation with ultrasound.
The course also features:
e-learning resources on the basic principles of ultrasound and indications, complications and management of vascular access.
Practical demonstrations and practice in small groups of peripheral and central vascular access.
Troubleshooting, personal practice and videos.
Places on the course are limited to 20 and the course fee is £40 for nurses, radiographers and AHPs, £60 for trainee doctors and £80 for consultants.
Although some of the stations may cover areas outwith your normal scope of practice, they still offer valuable insight and practice with ultrasound needling skills.
